It was supposed to happen with ‘Billa-2’ that turned to be a little disappointment for the Ajith fans. But now everything is set high for the celebrations as the actor will join hands with the director now. Yes, producer A.M Rathnam of Sri Surya Movies has officially confirmed that the project(Ajith-Vishnuvardhan-A.M Rathnam project) will go on floors once the actor completes shooting for ‘Billa-2’.

The technical team and other star-casts of the film are yet to confirmed and the details will be unveiled once the director completes shooting for his Telugu film ‘The Shadow’ that stars Pawan Kalyan in lead role.

Mankatha which is Ajith’s 50th film is still running to packed houses. Ajith’s 25th film Amarkalam was also a great hit and similarly Ajith’s 50th film has also turned out to be a blockbuster.

This is a success to Venkat Prabhu, Yuvan Shankar Raja, Vaibhav, Premji Amaran, Aswin, Mahath, cinematographer Sakthi and all the other technicians. They have all carried me on the shoulders and made this film a success.

I am also thankful to action king Arjun sir who agreed to share the screen with me without even listening to the story. It is also my duty to thank the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister because there were lots of rumors that there will be problem in releasing this film due to political vendetta. This is a real slap on the back of the people who spread these false rumours."

Mankatha Story : Ajith as plays the role of Vinayak Mahadev a police officer who gets suspended and Arjun plays the role of Prithviraj, Vinayak and Prithviraj are friends who also is a police official.

Vinayak however starts working against the police department then formed his own gang. He poses threat to the police officers and Prthviraj ends up chasing Vinayak.Gang along with Sumanth and Prem played by Vaibhav and Premji respectively forms a team and they stars stealing money.As time passes by the gang of Vinayak gets caught one by one by Prithviraj.Although he wishes to catch Vinayak and plots ways he wouldn't be able to catch him.We got introduced to Sanjana played by Trisha, who just appears in few scene in the movie as the love interest of Vinakyak, who is the daughter of the Villain a Casino owner.

Sanjana is used as bait to win over the casino owner and get the money.Vinayak who wins over lot of money and escapes with it. But there is a twist in the plot. To watch out for what the twist is all about one need to go the theater to catch Thala Ajith in action.Mankatha film will appeal to all Thala fans for sure and will definitely be a hit among the masses. ‘I am happy for my hairs haven’t fallen’ – Ajith (TFC)

When asked Ajith that how he was bold enough to don the salt and pepper look in Mankatha in spite of being a mass hero, he said, “Vinayak is a character who is after money. When we after money, we will not concentrate on our appearance.
We will be in that tension. We will think of our appearance once the money is in our hands. That is what we wanted to show it in our film.

My real color of my hair is grey. Because of this we added the dialogue, “My age is 40.” I was 16 years old when I left my schooling and started working in 1987. Now it is 2011. I cannot even imagine the sufferings and experiences I have undergone during the last 24 years. I am happy that my hair is become grey and has not fallen down. I am proud that I am celebrating with this sign.”

Ajith wants to fight with Superstar Rajnikanth (TFC)

Ajith has expressed his longtime wish- that he wants to play villain in a film starring Superstar Rajnikanth. "It should be a dreaded baddie role and I should be beaten like anything by Rajnikanth sir. This is my lifetime ambition," says the Thala.

The actor, who had played a role with negative shades in 'Mankatha', adds: "It would be a great delight to work with Rajnikanth sir. And it would be doubly so if I could get the villain's role in one of his forthcoming films."

Interestingly, it has apparently been Ajith's penchant to do characters with negative shades. He had done it before in 'Vaalee', 'Villain', 'Attagasam' and 'Varalaru', with the highlight being his 50th film 'Mankatha', in which he was seen in a full-fledged negative role- that of a man who would do anything for money.

Meanwhile, the 'Thala' is busy shooting for 'Billa 2' in Goa and is said to be satisfied with the working style of director Chakri Toleti. A couple of days ago, Ajith announced that he might retain his salt-pepper looks post 'Billa 2' and would concentrate on doing characters that suit his age.

The successful run of Ajith Kumar’s 50th film Mankatha has also continued in abroad. The movie, which was released on August 31, has earned Rs 83 lakhs (£110,383) in its first week, at the UK Box Office.

Mankatha is at 15th place at the UK Box Office. English movie The Inbetweeners Movie, which has raked in £3,679,555 in three weeks, is leading the list. The only other Indian movie to feature in the list is Bollywood film Bodyguard, which has collected Rs 6,26,86,743.


The weekend gross for Mankatha includes £42,252 from 16 previews. Whereas, the weekend collection for Bodyguard includes £407,839 from 51 previews. Meanwhile, the Tamil film has crossed Rs 30 crore mark in a week.

However, Mankatha, which stars Ajith Kumar, Trisha Krishnan and Arjun Sarja in the leads, is heading for its sequel. Director Venkat Prabhu is ready with the script and has in talks with the actors.

Ajith’s ‘Mankatha’ is a big success! The actors and actresses have earned a big name for themselves for the role they have done in the movie. But, it seems some are not satisfied with the big popularity they have got from this blockbuster.
They are none other than the leading lady Trisha and sultry girl Lakshmi Rai who now are locking horns in the fight that who would garner more mileage from the popularity of the movie.
Lakshmi Rai sparked a friction with Trisha by claiming that she was the one who was first considered for the role of the leading lady to pair opposite Ajith in the film. She added instances to her claim saying, “Venkat Prabhu while narrating the story to me and offered to choose between these two roles that I and Trisha did and I chose the one with the negative character. It was like the role that Trisha did was that what I considered second to mine!”

But, Venkat Prabhu and Trisha denied the claims of Lakshmi Rai and asked why an established actress like her should get into these types of false claims. “Trisha’s role was made for her and the claims of Lakshmi Rai are false”, says Venkat Prabhu. Trisha has her version saying, “The director approached me with a clean offer of the leading role, and as I was waiting to do a film with Venkat Prabhu, I did not wait to accept it. I cannot comment on the claims of Lakshmi Rai because I don’t care her claims”.
So, what prompted Lakshmi Rai to rake up this issue like this? Only she knows? Or the claims of her are true? Only time will tell!

Ajith's 50th movie Mankatha has taken a phenomenal opening not just in India, but in overseas as well. The initial reports from Singapore and Dubai are overwhelming.

Mankatha team watches 'Mankatha'

It was a special moment for the unit members of 'Mankatha' as they happened to come together along with their families. Yesterday, 'Mankatha' was screened for the members of the unit at Gemini Lab Preview theater and it was a very special occasion as Thala Ajith was present there. Vaibhav Reddy immediately tweeted saying that it’s a wonderful day as he is watching the film with ‘Thala’.

On the other end, editor of the film - Praveen KL was so floored by the gesture of Thala as he hugged him soon after the film was over. Shedding light on the film, he said, ‘Never seen such a wonderful first copy throughout my career. It has been done with an excellent panache. Thala is super and Venkat Prabhu rocks. Get ready to go blown away by this outstanding piece of work.’

Mankatha a Great Hit in Malaysia

Though the film Mankatha which has Ajith, Arjun, Trisha, Vaibhav Reddy, Lakshmi Rai, Andrea, Premji Amaren, Anjali in the cast is being released worldwide tomorrow ( 31st August 2011), a special screening of this film was made today evening in one of the theatres belonging to Golden Screen Cinema. This is the leading film exhibitor in Malaysia.
After the screening, there was a standing ovation for this film. The audience who saw this film were very excited. Few of the people who attended this screening have mentioned that they have not seen such an Ajith film with class.

It seems that the first half is rib tickling while the other half is filled with racy action sequences which has never been seen in Ajith films earlier. The direction of the film is 2 hours 40 minutes. This film is listed under one of the hot movie checks in Malaysia. This film is listed 2nd while the first being Final Destination 5.

Ajith becomes Tamil Eelam refugee now (TFC)

Ajith’s ‘Mankatha’ is creating huge response in box office with producers and distributors very much elated with the grand opening. In fact, sources close to Ajith openly confess that even the actor himself wasn’t expecting such a bigger opening and it has exceeded their expectations.

Let’s switch over to Ajith’s next film ‘Billa-2’. According to the sources, the film records the life of an ordinary person David, who becomes the most powerful Kingpin in Mafia World. Ajith plays the role of a Eelam Refugee, who comes to a particular area in Tuticorin that is dominated by a thug (Theepatti Ganesh of ‘Renigunta’ fame). When they lock horns, Ajith smashes down Ganesh, which urges the victim to seek revenge. Since it is not possible for him to handle him, he gets him involved in the ‘Diamond Smuggling’. But things doesn’t go on his predictions as David becomes King.

He was addressing MBA students at a private college in Chennai on Wednesday, where the crew members of 'Krishnaveni Panjaalai' conducted a seminar on effective marketing tools to take cinema to the masses.
Dhananjayan said: "No doubt that Mankatha is able to witness a grand opening because of Ajith. But at the same time, we should also take note of his fans and others marketing the movie on the web in a unique way."
Others who spoke on the occasion include veteran filmmaker Balumahendra and Pandiarajan. Balumahendra's speech drew the attention of students as he went down the memory lane and explained the making of evergreen movies like 'Moondram Pirai'.

Mankatha made history along overseas

Mankatha, Ajith’s 50th movie made history in collection not only in India but also in United Kingdom (UK). In Chennai Mankatha was released in 85 theaters, it’s totally of 350 prints.

In overseas, Mankatha masses... Yes, Mankatha is creating a buzz in the state as it had the second highest opening post Superstar Rajnikanth's Enthiran. The latest buzz is that the film has collected Rs. 81.72 lakhs in its opening weekend in UK.
Mankatha is an action thriller which narrates the story of match-fixing sagas in international cricket matches. Arjun plays the role of an investigative officer officer who takes up the task of exposing the bookies. Thala Ajith plays the role of a cop-cum-gambler.

Billa-2 gets a Break (TFC)

While ‘Mankatha’ is striking gold in box office, Ajith has got himself out of the fever setting his focus upon ‘Billa-2’. Much prior to the film’s release, the actor started shooting for ‘Billa-2’, a prequel to ‘Billa 2007’. Some of the dialogue portions and few stunts were canned in Hyderabad Film City following which Chakri Toleti had planned to shoot the second schedule in Tuticorin.

But now, the shooting has taken a small pause as the makers are planning to make some changes over the sequences.

I haven't laughed,screamed or whistled in enjoyment as hard in a film as I did with mankatha...

As everybody know the story of mankatha is very simple..a bunch of guys stealing 500crores which is the betting money in IPL final match....and they are trailed by the super smart , intelligent, action hardened cop.....played by our own action king...



while our thala plan the moves.....premji makes some alterations in plan for his own good which causes lot of chaos and ends in lot of blood shed..

what makes the movie interesting is the characterization of ajith.Vinayak,played to chilling perfection by Ajith Kumar, is a bad guy with a difference. He isn't just a mindless hard man. ajith gives us an awesome performance ...not even compromising a single thing...he has delivered upto his full capability and entertained his fans to the core.....

The dialogue of the movie, really shines through. As the story unfolds and becomes more and more far-fetched, each line of dialogue becomes a stand-alone punchline in as of itself, leaving most audiences (at least the ones I've been with) roaring with laughter.

Acting: Well... They are all doing a good job. Nothing about that. Trisha,Arjun and Jayaprakash are great as always. not a bad word about others also.
The film has got some excellent action scenes, particularly the chasing scenes and climax action scene,but they are bit lengthy.

SO....With solid acting, great action, and fantastic technical wizardry, it sounds just like a "SOOPER DOOPER HIT"....This film isn't going to win best picture any time soon but it's a good blockbuster.

The film is audacious and hilarious. After a season when nearly every film has disappointed us,THIS came as a huge surprise as the real fun and entertaining.
