Arulnidhi’s ‘Udhayan’ (TFC)

Actor Arulnidhi debuted with last year’s ‘Vamsam’ opposite Sunaina & directed by Pandiraj. The lanky Arulnidhi is the grandson of the DMK supremo and had the backing of the powers-that-be and the might of the ruling party at the time of his debut film ‘Vamsam’. He is now ready with his second film titled ‘Udhayan’, whose audio was launched recently in the city. Pranitha, a young and upcoming heroine from Tollywood, would be debuting opposite him in Tamil films with ‘Udhayan’.

Arulnidhi plays a banker in the film which also has comedian Santhanam to give him good company. “The mischief indulged in by the duo, who work in the loan recovery section of the bank, is sure to bring the house down,” says director Chaplin and adds that Arulnidhi has even performed a ‘risky stunt sequence’ on a motor-bike without bothering to make use of the ‘dupe’ stunt artiste’s help.
The audio-launch was far from being called a ‘grand affair’ and was almost a mute one. The film has music by Manikanth, son of the noted Saxaphone exponent Kathri Gopalnath. Years back, Kathri made a mark for himself by playing on the instrument for A.R Rahman’s musical hit ‘Duet’, directed by veteran K. Balachander. Manikanth’s debut film ‘Udayan’ has some pleasing number including a solo duet by singer-actress Shruti Hassan.
Shruti immediately nodded in agreement when Manikanth asked her to sing the duet song in the film. She was impressed with the ‘backdrop’ to the song, which was explained to her in detail by Manikanth. The song is said to be the highlight of the film, which would be in theaters with a month’s time from now!
